The 24th of December: Christmas Eve
It’s almost Christmas Day! In many countries, children get their presents on Christmas Day: December, 25th. Santa Claus and his reindeer race over the sky tonight to bring the presents, and tomorrow morning children can find them under the Christmas tree, or in their stockings by the fireplace. But in other countries, the children get their presents today, December 24th. Is it tradtition for you to get presents, too? Es ist schon beinahe Weihnachten! In vielen Ländern bekommen die Kinder ihre Geschenke am Ersten Weihnachtstag, dem 25. Dezember. Heute nacht flitzt der Weihnachtsmann mit seinen Rentieren durch den Himmel um die Geschenke zu bringen, und morgen früh können die Kinder sie unter dem Weihnachtsbaum oder in ihren Strümpfen finden, die sie am Kamin aufgehängt haben. Aber in anderen Ländern bekommen die Kinder ihre Geschenke heute schon. Ist es auch bei euch zuhause Tradition, Geschenke zu bekommen? Christmas Carol
A carol is an old name for a special kind of song. A Christmas Carol is a special Christmas song, for example "Silent Night" or "Oh Christmas Tree". If some people come together to sing a song, they are called a choir. In many families, it is tradition to sing together on Christmas Eve.
Das englische Wort carol ist eine alte Bezeichnung für eine besondere Art von Lied. Ein Christmas Carol ist ein besonderes Weihnachtslied, zum Beispiel "Stille Nacht" oder "Oh Tannenbaum". Wenn mehrere Leute zusammenkommen um ein Lied zu singen, dann nennt man sie einen Chor – choir. In vielen Familien ist es Tradition, an Heiligabend zusammen zu singen.
