Holly
The holly bush, which is also called ilex, has berries which are bright red. The spiky leaves of the bush are easy to recognise. It’s an evergreen plant which means it does not lose its leaves in the winter and has therefore been a symbol of hope in the winter for many centuries.
Stechpalme
Die Beeren der Stechpalme, die auch Ilex genannt wird, sind leuchtend rot. Die spitzen Blätter der Stechpalme sind leicht erkennbar. Sie ist eine immergrüne Pflanze, das bedeutet, sie veliert auch im Winter nicht ihre Blätter, deshalb gilt sie schon seit Jahrhunterten als Symbol der Hoffnung im Winter.
