Christmas Tree
Long ago, in Northern Europe people decorated their homes with evergreen fir branches in the winter. They hung apples, nuts or stars made from straw on them. It was to remind them that after the dark, cold times, the sun would return and make the world green again. Over time, the tradition of the Christmas tree developed from this.
Weihnachtsbaum
Schon vor langer Zeit haben die Menschen in Nordeuropa ihr Zuhause im Winter mit immergrünen Tannzweigen dekoriert. Sie hingen daran Äpfel, Nüsse oder Strohsterne. Die Zweige erinnerten sie daran, dass nach dem dunklen, kalten Winter die Sonne zurückkommen und die Welt wieder grün machen würde. Nach und nach entwickelte sich die Tradition des Weihnachtsbaumes daraus.
